USS Utah

The USS Utah is a Patton Class escort cruiser, the design based upon the NX refit. Modernized and with an added Proton torpedo launcher, a new technology at the time, the Patton class was the first federation starship to be able to cruise at warp 5 with a maximum warp of warp 7. The Utah was the second of the class built, built at the Martian shipyard in the Sol system. It was heavily armed and well shielded compared to it's contemporaries, an effect of the memories and experiences of the Federation-Romulan war. Fortunately for the Federation, the need for a warship proved unnecessary at the time, leading to only a few of the class being built. equipped with 5 proton torpedo launchers and 12 phaser banks, it was a formidable warship. The Utah spent 15 years patrolling the neutral zone, and saw action multiple times against border raiders and was instrumental in destroying the raider gangs that threatened to reignite the Romulan conflict.
